Future Programs-2015/16

Big Chief Donald Harrison, Sr. Book Club (K-12 + adults)

  • Age appropriate brand new books to school age children
  • Supports the Louisiana Department of Education's Comprehensive Curriculum for English/Language Arts
  • Guardians Institute has gifted over 35,000 books to area schools and community youth and adults.

Sankofa Saturdays​ (K-12)

  • Book club fiscal and reading literacy program

  • Creative writing workshop
  • Poetry craft and recital
  • Performance art
  • Stage presence
  • Community service and activism

​Jazz and Art Master Classes (5th-12th grade + adults)

  • Beginners and aspiring musicians and artists workshops: music, visual art, photography, videography

G.I. Speaks (5 yrs - 21 yrs)

  • Poetry recital workshop: stage presence, vocalization and projection

Sewing Machine Project​ (Ended November 2014)

  • Provides new and pre-owned sewing machines to community

G. I. Sewing School (10+ years old)

  • Quilt making and embellishment techniques
